Annually, Clarke must address the difference between the costs of providing our specialized services and funds received from the city and state. The gap is estimated to be $5,000+ per child per year.

Clarke's team of professionals is dedicated to ensuring our young students build a solid foundation of listening, spoken language, literacy and social-emotional skills to prepare them for the transition to kindergarten programs in their neighborhood schools.

Clarke New York opened its doors in 1999 with five students enrolled. Today our alums are pursuing careers in the arts, technology, social services and sciences, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees and serving as role models for the children and families currently enrolled in our programs.

Clarke partners with families through workshops, support groups and 1:1 meetings to ensure they have the resources they need to make the best informed choices for their child.

Donations from individuals and organizations give Clarke staff access to tools and training so they are poised to meet families where they are.

Hearing loss will be detected at birth in 3 out of every 1000 children. Between our Early Intervention and Preschool Programs, Clarke works with 150-200 families annually meaning hundreds of families have put their trust in Clarke over 26 years.

The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention benchmark is 1-3-6:

• hearing screening by 1 month old
• diagnosis by 3 months old
• enrollment in Early Intervention and by 6 months old
